First commissioned for Cat’s Cradle, curated by Danica Pinteric for Nuit Blanche, Toronto (2024)
A meditation on hotel, as a site, as an allegory, and as a passing volatile state of being, On the count of three imagines a nonspecific hotel as a multifaceted, omnipresent "witness" to a full spectrum of human activity. The work unravels through a series of dream-like vignettes that fold allegory, fiction, and histories of place, and is punctuated with sets of directive prompts or "scores," blurring the lines between care, hospitality, and authoritarian impulses.
“This work is timely, layered, and deeply painful, with essential moments of levity that call us in to reflect on the status of public space.” — Danica Pinteric, Curator (Oct 202
